Big Red comes home and I couldn’t be more excited! If any of you had ever sold something and never wish you had will know what I mean, but yesterday I had the good fortune of reuniting with my favorite race car that I purchased a few years ago. I just can’t wipe the smile off of my face!
For those of you who don’t know the history of the car, I purchased a red ’99 Miata in 2007. I then had the roll cage built by Estus White with eSpeed Racing and completed the rest of the build with Glenn Murphy and myself with parts sourced by Steve Bertok with Panic Motorsports.
In 2007 I ran in the South Atlantic Road Race of Champions series and won 9 of the 11 total races and the championship! While running this series I set a track record at Rockingham that still stands today. Derrick Moore used the car to run in the Carolina Cup Pro series that same year and took home several wins! Tom Fowler with OPM also ran the car in the 2007 SARRC Invitational Championship.
This car was highly photographed and was used in the 2008 VIR annual calendar! Right now the car is a little beat up and will be delivered to the eSpeed world headquarters shortly to begin the restoration. I will post pictures along the way as we plan on a full restoration and hope to debut the car sometime in 2012!
